Taking The Path Less Travelled

path less travelled

There are many ways in life to take the path less travelled. It is being bold and different with your lifestyle, career, fashion sense or any other aspect of your life.

Many people do not have a problem going with the norm. They are content living where they have always lived or doing what they have always done.

If this is you: That is perfectly awesome, as long as you are happy and your soul is satisfied.

Then there are many people who feel compelled to spread their wings and take the path less travelled, but they do not follow through for a number of reasons. Perhaps fear of failure, family influence or lack of ambition holds them back.

If this is you: Here are 5 reasons why you should listen to your intuition, and take the path less travelled!

  1. You’ll Never Know If You Never Try

When you are old & grey and looking back at your life, you don’t want to be thinking of all the “what-if’s”. This is a time to look back and be proud of your accomplishments and even those times you tried and failed. Even now, if you make a list of all the times you stepped out of your comfort zone, you’ll see that those times are your fondest memories and proudest moments.

2. You Can Become A Trailblazer For Others

When other people go on the journey before you, it makes it much easier to follow in their footsteps. If you truly believe in something, go for it and be a trailblazer for those who might want to follow you and do the same. It may not be easy, but it will surely be worth it!

3. The Age Old Saying “Follow Your Heart”

There is a reason you are yearning to take the path less travelled. Your intuition, that gut feeling in your soul knows all that you are capable of. Trust yourself and believe you are made for a special purpose.

4. Remember What Life Is About

It is easy to say that you should just go with the more common, secure path to ensure stability. That is only the right choice if that’s where your heart is truly leading you. However, do not settle for less than you dream of just because you are unsure of financial success.

I am not saying you should completely disregard finances. Just remember that life is about more than the money you make and the possessions you own. It is about finding and fulfilling your personal purpose; Make your life decisions according to that, rather than your income. Your happiness is more valuable than money.

5. Listen To These People Who Took The Path Less Travelled

These quotes from trailblazers say it best:

“As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” -Nelson Mandela

“I don’t have to prove anything to anyone, I only have to follow my heart and concentrate on what I want to say to the world. I run my world.” -Beyoncé

“You’re not meant to do what is easy, you’re meant to challenge yourself.”- Justin Timberlake

“It is better to live one year as a tiger, than a hundred as a sheep.” -Madonna

“Stay afraid- But do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.” -Carrie Fisher

“It’s about being alive and feisty and not sitting down and shutting up even though people would like you to.” – P!ink

“”Great people do things before they’re ready. They do things before they know they can do it.” -Amy Poehler

There are many more than just 5 reasons to take the path less travelled, but I hope these were a small reminder for anyone hesitant, or everyone already on this path, that you are doing the right thing. Go fearlessly toward your dreams. Put all your eggs in one basket. Just go ahead and give it everything you’ve got. I believe in you!
