We have all been there. Those days where you were supposed to write, or work on something but you don’t feel that creative genius flowing, so you don’t. You feel like you have writer’s block, so you don’t pick up the pen. Assuming it won’t be good enough, so why even bother? You lack will-power and motivation. But there is hope. This post is to remind you how amazing you are, and to let you know you shouldn’t wait for inspiration any longer- It is already inside of you.
“Don’t wait for inspiration. It comes while one is working.” – Henri Matisse
The trick is to find time to just get to work. Set yourself up in a comfortable spot and get something, anything started. You’re not supposed to have it all figured out when you begin. It will come.
“Great people do things before they’re ready.” – Amy Poehler
Some people work best on a schedule. Devote an hour or two every day to just free-write or work on your project. Write as much as you can and then edit it down later. Not everything is going to be a masterpiece, and that’s okay! Songwriters can write 1000 songs before one is a hit, but that one song is all they need for success! Apply this to your projects as well.
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” – Theodore Roosevelt
Get started now, or you’ll never know the greatness you can achieve when you truly give it your all. Give yourself the best chance to succeed. Work as hard as you can, don’t wait for the inspiration to come before you dive in head first.
“One day you will wake up and there won’t be anymore time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.” – Paulo Coelho
This lesson isn’t just for writers, it is for everyone. Don’t wait for the perfect time to take a step forward in whatever it is you want to do. Take the first step, even if you don’t quite understand what you are doing. You will learn as you go. The sooner you start, the sooner your knowledge will catch up with you.
“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” – Jack London
I hope these quotes and words helps you to no longer wait for inspiration, and to just start where you are. What’s the worst that could happen? You write something that you don’t like, but maybe it gives you a better idea for something else. Doing something will forever be better than doing nothing.
“Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working.” – Pablo Picasso
Good luck to you with whatever projects you may be working on! Sending you positive thoughts, I know you will do great things!
