“Welcome to a state of chocolate.” That is what you will read when you walk into the colourful, wonderfully chocolate-scented eatery called Cacao 70, in the middle of the Distillery District, downtown Toronto.
Cacao 70 is one of those perfect date spots because it is in the heart of a beautiful, artsy part of the city with tons of things to see and do. This means that before or after your tasty treat, you can do some sight seeing and window shopping!
My boyfriend, David and I have gone quite a few times to Cacao 70 and each time we try a different dessert. They have lots to choose from, like fondue, crepes, waffles, decadent hot chocolates and cakes.
Not in the mood for dessert? No problem! They also have sandwiches, savoury dishes and even serve brunch from 10am-4pm!
Last time I went, I couldn’t decide between sweet or savoury, so I went for this dessert that has both!
The Apple Bacon Crunch Crepe: A classic crepe with bacon, fresh apples, mild white cheddar cheese, french vanilla bean ice cream, walnuts, icing sugar and caramel sauce! All of this for only $12.00!
Because I have a HUGE sweet tooth, I also got one of their famous hot chocolates as my drink of choice.
I went for the Cacao 70 Factory Hot Chocolate: Melted dark chocolate made in our Montreal factory served in a snifter glass with milk hot chocolate base on the side.
David opted for the Berry Smoothie, as well as the After-Party Waffle.
After-Party Waffle: A classic waffle topped with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, homemade berry sauce, milk chocolate chunks, chocolate-covered cereal and a drizzle of white chocolate.
We got a couple snapshots of the surroundings on our walk as well, which I thought I would include in this post. If you happen to be in the Toronto area and are looking for a nice afternoon or evening out, I would definitely recommend Cacao 70 Eatery! PS: They also have free wifi and excellent coffee if you are looking for a nice place to catch up on some work!
Have you ever been to Cacao 70? Does this chocolate-filled restaurant excite you as much as it does me? Let me know in the comments below if you have something similar in your hometown!
