It’s Cupid’s birthday today! Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. I hope today brings you romance, love, and that you spend time cherishing those who bring you comfort and warmth. Of course, celebrating your love shouldn’t only be on Valentine’s Day. If you wait for your fairytale love, then surely, you will cherish and celebrate your love every day of the year.
You’ve all heard people say, “Never settle when it comes love”. Although this is sound advice, it is still so vague. How are we supposed to know when we have found ‘the one’?
Wait For Your Fairytale Love
Firstly, I must mention, I was fortunate enough to grow up around very healthy relationships. Couples who treated each other with respect and kindness. This definitely set an amazing example for what I wanted to look for in a forever love. That being said, there was one relationship that I witnessed growing up that seemed extra magical – My grandparents. They are the real reason I see the importance to wait for your fairytale love.
I could share with you their entire love story, which includes 6 children and a very happy life. Instead, I will share with you one special moment in particular where I witnessed their love in all of it’s glory. This was a defining moment in my life.
Each day, my Granddad would pick me up from the bus stop after school. So, this one particular day in fifth grade, I was delighted that my Grandmother had also come along to pick me up , because we were going shopping. We arrived at the store, and my grandparents, like two kids at play, began dressing each other up with beautiful hats, and luxurious scarves. My Granddad would pick out the most extravagant hats for my Grandmother and then tell her how beautiful she was in every one. The way he made her feel, and the way they made each other smile and laugh was something I knew I wanted someday, for my forever love.
I realize nothing life-changing happened on this day, but for me, it was the day I decided I would never settle for a love less than my dear grandparents showed me. I learned the magic that happens when you wait for your fairytale love, and that this kind of love is not only for the movies.
Now, fast forward to my life, I am so blessed and grateful to celebrate my own special love with David. This is our second Valentine’s Day as a couple. I won’t get too sappy in this post, about how happy he makes me. Just know that if I had a list of what I was looking for in a love, he would check off every box. Maybe someday, we will be lucky enough to create a love story of our own, you never know.
If you get anything out of this, I hope it’s the belief it’s worthwhile to wait for your fairytale love. There truly are people out there who will treat you with respect, kindness. People who will make you feel loved every single day.
My wish for you is that you find that kind of love, too. If you have already found your fairytale love, my wish for you is that it is everlasting. Everybody deserves to be loved!
